Certamen Navarra Tierra de Cine
Navarra, Tierra de Cine, a short film competition, was created in 2013 with the aim of promoting Navarra’s historical, cultural and natural heritage through cinematic fiction, while also supporting and guiding audiovisual creators so they can shoot their stories in the Chartered Community of Navarra—making it the only festival of its kind in the region.
Since its launch, the festival has served as a filming location in a total of 39 towns across Navarra. More than 480 projects have been submitted and 120 short films have been produced. Within the framework of the festival, over 1,800 overnight stays have taken place throughout the region, and more than 365 filming days have been completed.
The festival works in collaboration with the Navarra Film Commission and receives financial support from the Department of Culture through the Generazinema Festivales grant scheme, aimed at the organisation of film festivals and competitions held in Navarra. In 2020, Navarra, Tierra de Cine was granted a Declaration of Social Interest in the category of programme-type cultural projects and activities by the Department of Culture of the Government of Navarra, which also resulted in the awarding of the MECNA Seal for Cultural Patronage.
