The filming of El Convento is taking place in Navarra, a thriller inspired by the satanicnuns of Corella

Villafranca has begun hosting the filming of El Convento, a thriller inspired by the real case of the satanic nuns of Corella from 1750, marking the debut of the Tudela-based production company Elcon Films. Directed by Luis Galindo and Ángel M. Chivite, the film will also be shot in Fitero and features a cast that includes three actresses from Navarra: María Mercado, Nahia Bergasa, and Ana Álvarez. The story follows two young postulants, Lucía and Ana María, who, upon arriving at a convent, find themselves trapped in a series of terrifying events under the supervision of Sister Águeda, the mother superior. The plot, set in an 18th-century convent, promises to keep the audience on edge with a horror narrative. The filming, which will last four weeks, will utilize the Convento de Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Villafranca, a currently unused building that has been adapted for this project. The film is expected to premiere in 2025 and represents the beginning of Elcon Films, which plans to undertake more film projects in southern Navarra.
